Distinction
Affirmation Search vs. Review Management
One of the eleven questions is literally the company's name and the word reviews. Even that answer is built from more than reviews.
Review management is the discipline of asking customers for reviews, monitoring the ones that arrive, and responding to the ones that need a response.
What review management does
It asks happy customers to leave a review, watches what comes in, and answers what needs answering. It is useful. A company with no reviews looks stranger to a homeowner than a company with a few complaints and hundreds of good ones. Review platforms are a real source of evidence, and they are among the sources an Affirmation Search answer can cite.
Where it stops
A review is one witness. It is not the whole record.
One voice is an opinion. Hundreds of voices over time become evidence.
Reputation Intelligence
A star rating says little about leadership, about whether employees are developed, or about what happens when a warranty claim gets expensive. Those are exactly the things several of the eleven questions ask: is XYZ a good company to work for, does XYZ deliver on their promise, can I trust XYZ. An answer to those questions reaches past the review profile to whatever else can be found.
Review management also works inside somebody else's platform. The platform decides how reviews are ranked, which competitors appear on the same page, and whether a quote button sends the person to someone else, part of what Power100 calls the One-Click-Away Problem.
What Affirmation Search adds
The question comes first. Instead of starting from one platform and asking how to raise its number, it starts from what a person actually asks with the company's name in it, and reads which sources the answer leans on. Sometimes that is a review profile. It can be several sources at once. The reading also asks whether a negative is doing honest work: whether it is filtering out people the company does not want, or pushing away people it does.
Side by side
| Affirmation Search | Review management | |
|---|---|---|
| Works on | The question and every source that answers it | Review profiles on the platforms a company is listed on |
| Measures what | What the answer says, which sources it cites, and whether it stays about the company | Star rating, review volume, response rate |
| Limit | It reads only the questions in the tracked set, so the set has to be the right one | Everything a review cannot show: leadership, culture, what happens when a warranty claim gets expensive |
| Whose platform | Any platform the person asks | The review platform's own, with its own rules and advertising |
